HALAKU KHAN AND THE PILLAGE OF BAGHDAD
Originally Narrated by Irfan Hasan.
I had heard that when Halaku Khan brought his army to Iraq, it destroy- ed the entire Baghdad which used to be the major Islamic center of learning. The whole of Baghdad was burned to ashes, its world-renowned libraries burned, all the books thrown in the river that flows through Baghdad, and it created huge piles of human skulls (as a symbol of its "achievements") every where. The Khalifa himself was killed in the most ruthless manner. His legs were tied to a horse which was driven all over Baghdad. The Tatars (Halaku Khan's army) however stayed and later on converted to Islam who then spread the light of Islam throughout the entire Eastern Europe and deep into Russia. I often wondered how this remarkable transformation took place. Recently, I found my answer in a publication which narrated it as follows.
After burning and pillaging entire Baghdad and killing thousands of Muslims, Halaku ordered his army to arrest and gather all the Islamic scholars in a huge field in which he was to enjoy the scene of them beheaded in front of him. When all the Islamic scholars were gathered in the field, Halaku came galloping on his beautiful horse in the field while holding the reins in one hand and repeatedly throwing a lemon in the air and catching it (as it was his habit) in the other hand. He then stopped at the front of the assembly of prisoners where his generals were waiting for him. He stayed seated on his horse and started addressing the scholars with scornful arrogance while still playing with the lemon:
"Today no power will save you from my wrath. Where is your Allah? If He really exists then why don't you call Him to come to your help?"
This insult to Allah really infuriated an old Islamic scholar named Imam Yusuf who was physically very weak and thin. However, he was endowed with a great religious zeal and fervor. When he heard Halaku saying that, he moved forward, his body trembling with anger, and his face turned red with rage. Imam Yusuf spoke in his fearsome loud trembling voice:
"You ruthless! You are the one who spreaded rape, pillage, and destruction in this land. How did you dare to insult my Allah like that. My Allah is so power that if He wills, He can take your life even before this lemon that you have just thrown in the air falls in you hand!"
Halaku started sweating profusely, he never heard anyone talking to him like that - this man was feared by all for his ruthlessness. The lemon fell on the ground. He bend down while still seated on his horse to pick up the lemon from the ground. The horse took it as a signal to gallop at her maximum speed. This shook Halaku who fell on the ground on his back but his one foot got stuck in the saddle. The horse was running like wind while Halaku was mercilessly dragged all over the place. Then he started to bleed profusely and when the horse stopped, Halaku had died a miserable and painful death. The man who loved to inflict painful deaths on innocent people, himself died that way.
When Tatar generals saw this, they started trembling with fear. Imam Yusuf's faith in Allah had convinced them more them enough that Allah indeed exists and is not oblivious to what the transgressors do. The huge fearsome- looking Tatar generals wept and apologized to Imam Yusuf and converted to Islam on his hand. Because of these Tatar generals, the entire Tatar nation converted to Islam. It was these Tatar Muslims who then founded the great Khilafat-e-Usmania (the Ottomans Empire) and pushed the frontiers of Islam to the gates of Vienna.
There are indeed great lessons to be learned from this gruesome incident (i.e. destruction of an Islamic state) of our history. Firstly, Allah does not spare transgressors and those who spread FASAD (death, destruct- ion, misery) in His land. He just gives such people a respite till a certain time so that these people get more ruthless in their destructive activities and start thinking that they can do what they please. When that happens Allah's wrath comes into action which does not spare such spreaders of FASAD. Secondly, such adversities are test from Allah for the Muslims. When we Muslims confess that we are Muslims, Allah tests us to see how true we are to our words. Becoming or confessing to be a Muslim is like signing a contract asking Allah to test us. As Allah says in Qur'an:
O you who believe! Seek help with patient perseverance and prayers; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere.
And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah:"They are dead." Nay, they are living, though your perceive (it) not.
Be sure We shall test you With something of fear And hunger, some loss In goods or lives or the fruits (Of your toil), but give Glad tidings to those Who patiently persevere, Who say, when affected With calamity: "To Allah We belong, and to Him Is our return."
They are those on whom (descend) blessings from their Lord, And Mercy, And they are the ones That receive guidance. (Al-Qur'an, Chapter 2 - Surah Albaqara) (The Ayah numbers are somewhere between 100 to 145)
Ponder over the above Ayahs (verses) very carefully. Allah says it very clearly that He will test us (the Muslims). But even before Allah states what the test will be, He gives us the tools to be used to pass the tests we encounter in our lives. He says:"Seek help with patient perseverance (i.e.SABR) and prayers; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere (i.e.who do SABR)". Prayers are indeed a great gift from Allah because prayers protect us from losing courage, giving in to evil temptations, and save us from indulging in vices that make our hearts dead. And "patient perseverance" is a hallmark of a Muslim only because as the Messenger of Allah Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in a Hadith, that SABR is the quality of a believer only; when he is in good condition he thanks Allah and when he is suffering, he patiently perseveres [knowing that it is also from Allah]. As Allah says in the above Ayahs, whenever we are affected with calamity we must give our resigned submission to Allah by saying from our hearts "Inna Lillah-hay Wa Inna Ilaeyhay Rajioon" ("To Allah we belong and to Him is our return"). If we Muslims learn to seek help from patient perseverance (SABR) and prayers (SALAT) then no trial and tragedy will be a source of disheartening for us. We will have the inner conviction that Allah is the Master of whole universe and all events that unfold around us are due to the Divine Will, and these events no matter how tragic they are can turn into a source of invigorating our spirits and making us stronger than before. With this attitude, we get imbued with a sense of inner satisfaction and optimism. Miseries and tragedies like happiness and good times are not eternal. They will change by the Divine Will and Plan of Allah; we just do not know what this Divine plan is, but this lack of knowledge should not make us assume that things will not change for the better. Our job as Muslims is to BELIVE AND DO GOOD DEEDS (as prescribed by Islam) AND LEAVE THE REST IN ALLAH'S HANDS. Allah is the most supreme strategist of all universes. Sincere devotees to Allah, who fulfill all their obligations to Allah, will indeed triumph as truth is bound to prevail and forces of evil will meet their utter humiliation and defeat. Wassalamu Alaikum,
Poet Iqbal and Nuclear fall out
Voh fiqr-e ghustakh jis ne uryan kiya hy fitrat ki takaton ko
Ooski betab bijliyon se khatar me hy ooska aashiyana
Those who have dared to strip naked the laws of nature will find their own existence threatened by the forces they uncover
It is rightly said by Sir Dr.Mohammad Iqbal in one of his poems that
Those who are today imposing those unfair sanctions on the people realize that they are the cause of human sufferings.
Nuclear fall out: - Why should all the blame goes to South Asia for The arms race? The arm race is a creation of the superpowers that for their monetary gains have placed the world in this position. Instead of trying to help the developing countries they have continually supplied arms to them.
Buddhist University & Dr.A.Q.Khan
Now suppose Dr Abdul Qadir Khan has chosen a Field of Education as a career for himself and in Pakistan, he wants to establish a University at International level. His first barrier to tackle this issue will be Funds, Faculty and Technology. It is true that Muslims are not able to make even Prayer Rug and Tasbih for which they are dependant on Non-Muslims. Therefore for Doctor to establish this University, he will need help from outside world.
Doctor has two options for this purpose. Either (1) take help from America or Europe or (2) from China or Japan.
On his involvement in making Atomic Bomb, America and Europe will not agree on any account to help him out. Now he has left China and Japan. In this respect we have to take steps with understanding not to harm the feelings of the Nations of both the countries.
This country which the world is now calling her Pakistan, the followers of Buddhist Religion see this country as a sacred land.
From today about 5000 years ago the mountain range of Margallah and Swat was a great civilisation, to which the history called it Taxilla and Gandhara or Buddhist Civilisation. To day this place is occupied and populated by three cities, Islamabad, Vaah and Taxila.
Here 2700 years ago there was a great ancient University. This University was run by the great scholars of Buddhist Sect. This University had 68 Sections of Faculty which had occupied by 10500 students taking their education at the same time.
The world had the very first University which had given Physiology, Science of Speech, Mathematics, Geometry, Theorem, Law of Gravity, Measurement of Time, Plastic Surgery, Philosophy, Architecture, Tibb, Surgery, Politics, Defence, Astronomy, Accounts, Office Management, Music and Dance,Mussaviri, Research and given extra ordinary shape of Science. Made Curriculum, and then given education to students at the highest level.
For admission to this University they fixed the Age 16 and students must have basic knowledge of subjects. Once a student is admitted he has to continue his study for 8 years constantly. This University was so much famous in those days, that students were coming from Babilon, Greece, Roam, Syria, Arab, China, Hindustan and rulers of all the Raja Maharaja from the Far East were sending their children for study.
Mahatma Buddha also came and preferred to live at this place.
In E sector of Islamabad the Big Banyan Tree is still survived were he had made his resident. Every year hundreds of Buddhist comes for the visit of this tree.
This University had produced of its time three great Scholars. (1) Charak Samhita who invented Aryuvadic Medicine. (2) Kotalia who had written famous Book of Arthshastar and given the world the art of Government ship and Politics and information about Social Life. (3), Panini, who was a scholar of Sanskrit and considered to be the founder of Language and Literature.
The sacred Hindu Book of Maha Bharat was first introduced in this University.
This University with the change of world had disappeared but near Taxila place JOLIAN its remains are still visible.
From the world thousand of Buddhist comes to visit Taxila. They walk around Jolian and remember the days of when from Margallah to Swat and from Swat to Afghanistan to the city of Bomian the teaching of Buddha’s Peace, love and Harmony message was echoed all over the places. In those time devotees in thousands from all over the world were coming to Taxila for gaining knowledge of literature.
There are 11 countries in the world are Buddhist Governments and they are (1) China (2) Japan (3) Sri Lanka (4) Thailand (5) Laos (6 Cambodia (7) Burma (8) Mongolia (9) Vietnam (10) North Korea and (11) South Korea.
Out of these 11 countries three countries are counted as first world countries Super Power and they are China, Japan and South Korea because of their nuclear and commercial capabilities. These three countries are considering their Vatican to Texila.
If Doctor Abdul Qadir announced to rebuild 2700 years old ancient University in Julian and take a bold step to replace it to a modern University in Texila, then these 11 countries will definitely support him to go ahead with his plan to alive again the old memories which has been lost with the passing time.
In Tokyo alone there are 1000 Universities. There are 20 famous Universities in the world and the Beijing University in China is one of them.
If Doctor Abdul Qadir can get support from 10 Universities of Japan and one from China then the youngsters of Pakistan in five years time will come out from darkness to bright future.
Just he made up his mind to make an organisation in the name of Taxila, Gandhara or a Buddhist University, then to start constructing buildings around the ruins of Julian in the mountain areas. Then see Allah SWT will bless him from all corners to achieve his dream of Modern University parallel to the ancient one. Then see the extinguished light will again spark up and will make this country in the lime light of the progressive world.
Our Prophet SAS nae farmaya tha Ilam hasil karo, khawa aap ko china jana parae. Seek Islamic knowledge together with worldly knowledge, because Prophet (PBUH) said that you should seek knowledge “even if you have to go to China for it”. (Because China was considered the very far point of the world)
Mae aalimon ki jution ki khak sae bhi kam tar hun lekin yeh ahsas hota hae shayad Rasulullah SAS kae eis farman kae hazaron meanings mae sae yeh bhi ho “Tum log china jao ilam ki masha’l hasil karo aur phir yeh Masha’l Taxila jaisay viranon mae rakh do takay eis ki roshani 61 Islami mumalik kae andheron ko noor mae badal dae.

The outcome I take from this article is that the writer got a inner feelings to up lift Muslim Ummah in Educational Field and he took this opportunity to use the name of Dr.A.Q. Khan, who is a well known, Pakistani Scientist and Father of Pakistani Bomb. A man of his calibre can turn his knowledge for betterment of 61 Islamic Nations of the world by establishing a University at the highest level.
Since the independent of the country the Governorship bog down on 5 years planning system and under influence of Western Countries they prefer to spend more budget towards defence of the country, thus a piece of land in the name of Kashmir left for them in constant conflict with India without any outcome.
There were many learned and intellectual people migrated from India but their services were very limited due to shortage of finance and were not successful due to ISM, and this ISM took them nowhere but to beg, beg and beg but their begging Katora is still empty. The end result was to loose one part of the wing in the name of Bangladesh.
Ibn-e Maryam huva karay koyee
Mairay dukh ki dawa karay koyee
Ibn-e Maryam is Issa (A.S) who had a God given healing power, but that was the past but I am here worried about my pain and asking, is there any body who can be my Messiah to cure me?
Well this is the fact that every where there are crises of all nature and the world is day by day going towards anarchy waiting for the Messiah to come for peace and harmony.

Lahore 21.03.2001
There was a happy occasion of meeting of two sides of nationals at Lahore on 21.03.2001. Indian delegation was represented by The Servant of the people Society also known as Lok Sevak Mandal. The founder of this Lok Sevak Mandal was Lala Lajpatrai in 1921
One of the Pakistani Doctor Khalid Javed had written a poem in love and affection for the people of both the country. He then requested Mr Satyapalji the group leader to convey his message to the people of India, the true feelings of Pakistanis for Indians.
On his return to India Mr Satyapalji had published this poem in several Indian Newspapers. This poem was appeared in Gujarat Samachasr London on 24.01.2004 submitted by Shree Chandubhai Matani Leicester, as under:-

(If I do not receive any letter or wire from your side now you tell me honestly how can I be happy or satisfy)
Feeling of a fiancé, a bride or a wife, who is left behind on the understanding that her love or a life partner will call her, some day to join him to begin a family life to gather. It is generally seen that many family is facing the same situation. A husband has gone abroad for his livelihood leaving behind his wife and children and only visit after a year or two, or some time there is a situation where she is passing her days along with her children without any hope of his return.
But when her dream shattered she will pass her time thinking all the time, but especially on Eid day. It seems that Sister Aaliya Kausar from Chitral has narrated her own biography, which also tells the stories of all other Sisters who are living on false promises which has not been materialized and the Society have to look for the appropriate solution.
Eik ummid hae lotogae eik din tum log
Eik oosi aas per khud ko sambhal rakhkha hae
A hope one day, you people will return.
On that thought I have controlled my self.
Koi gham aayae oosae dil pe rok latae hain
Per kisi tor bhi ham khud ko bikhar nae nahin daitae
On any worries, I don’t let it comes to my heart.
And not at all had I let my self carried away
Hamari chokhaton per dekhtae ho deep jo tum
Yeh intezar hae chirahg nahin
On our door steps, what you see, the lamp.
It is an expectation-wait and not just a light.
Aur in mae hasraton ka aindhan hae-Jo sahar va sham
Hamarae sath jala karta hae
It contains fuel of my grief.
Morning till evening, it goes on burning along with us.
Kuch nahin chahyae gadi na kaee bangle hamain
WE don’t need Motor Car or a Bungalow.
Tum nae jo khawab dikhayae thae hamain jatae huvae
You have shown me the dream-at the time of your leaving-
Kae tumharae Kisi perdesh chalae janae sae
Ghar ka aangan haseen khushyaon sae mahak jayae ga
That, by virtue of your going abroad.
Courtyard of our house will perfumed with sweet happiness
Thik hi kahtae thae tum
Tum nae dollar hi itnae bhajae kae.
You were right in saying.
You have sent enough dollars, that
Jo bhi chahain kharid latae hain
Jo bhi chahain kharid saktae hain.
We buy any thing we want- Any thing can be bought with ease
.
Aakae dekho to sabhi kuch hae hamarae ghar mae
Her aik dhang ka electronics-Her nayae rung ki asaeeshain hain
Come and see you’re self every thing is there in our house.
All make of electronic items. Every new luxury items.
Gariyan, zevraat, bank balance- konsi chiz dastyaab nahin?
Cars, Jewelleries, and Bank Balance—what is not available?
Janae mun tum jo mairae pas nahin
Saanp bun kar yeh hamain rozana dasa karti hae
My darling you are not near me-
Every thing is biting me daily like a snake-
Tum nahin to chand raat ko bhi-
Ghar main viraniyan hi raqs kiya karti hain
When you are not there—on the night of Chand Raat-
Desolation is dancing around the house-
Kab aavogae! Kab aavogae! Kab aavogae!
When will you come!! When will you come!! When will you come!!!
In times ahead I am thinking positive
It’s the only way I now can live
I will LOVE you always and it’s not a lie
Without you my LOVE I will surely die
Suffering for them is a composition of their muqaddar and happiness for them is baseless. These baseless happiness are increasing their sufferings and not reducing it
Aavo aavo sukh layae ho? Bolo mol batavo tum
Apnae apnae sukh kae badlae! mujh sae dukh lae jao tum
Pal do pal ka sukh layae ho? Pal do pal ka dukh bhi hae
Jaisa dukh lainae aayae ho? Aaisa jaib mae sukh bhi hae

Rise and fall of Bank of Credit & Commerce International (BCCI)
Lahron ke khilaf tamnnaon ki udaan (War between Traditions and Ambitions)
APNAY CHOTAY SAY GHARANAY KE NAAM
This was the feeling of a writer when he was one of the members of a Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) which was called a Family Bank, where every intellectual persons of the Globe were occupying a chair. Most professional Bankers were employed from India sub continent irrespective of their cast. Bank’s remarkable success and rise in the City was due to a dynamic personality of Mr Agha Hassan Abedi who opened this Bank. He started his career from Habib Bank and then he opened United Bank as a direct challenge to his previous Bank. His colleague was Mr Mustafa Ismail who later on joined MCB and on Nationalisation of Banks during Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto he became the first President of Nationalised Habib Bank Ltd.
For expansion of the Bank Mr Abedi was the most travelled man.
Eik jagha rahtay nahin aashiq-e nakam kahin-
Din kahin raat kahin, subh kahin sham kahin.
In the commercial circle Mr Abedi was the most successful man. Josh Malihabadi remarked about him that he got a store of knowledge and the nature has done unjust with him by hanging him with a golden rope, instead of Banker he should have been a philosopher, in other word Misplacement.
Bank has progressed much and gain worldwide reputation as a successful Bank in its short life of twenty years. Many families benefited financially and health wise. I admire Mr Abedi’s one of the great quality of a true believer of humanity and love for humanbeings. He had a great inspiration and can meet any challenge in difficult circumstances and solved them with great ease. Unfortunately his health getting deteriorated and died with all his worldly ambition departed with him. Bcci could not survive as his predecessors were unable to cope with all the white elephants taking advantage of the vacant place.
This was the Nazam written on 25-12-1989 when Bcci was facing problems forced on to it by external force that were not in favour of its existence in the City. At last it was closed down in June 1990.
Lahron ke khilaf Tamnnaon ki udaan:- A war between Tradition and Ambition. If you follow smooth running of Banking sitting in safe corner according to established style or act ascribed by the authority, you will get success, InshAllah. But if you come out in open to fly with Ambition for strong desire to expand in short time, an extravagant or far fetched idea, ignoring such ridiculous flights of fancy will take you to failure and that is what we have seen. May Allah protect the innocents who lost their livelihoods? Ameen

A BETTER WORLD FOR “EVERY ONE”
Shared prosperity and shared problems.
Living in the fourth largest economy on the planet, the people of the UK are a rich, privileged minority in a world of extreme poverty. Each day, more than a billion people one in five of the world’s population live on less than many of us spend on a bus fare. With our car, gadgets, holidays and our homes, we are prosperous beyond their wildest dreams. That said not all of us feel completely comfortable about the lives we live, when we also have far more detailed knowledge than our forebears did about the lives of people in poor regions of the world. Many of us feel that the levels of human suffering and inequality we find in the world are plain wrong. When we read that the three richest people in the world have more than all 48 of the poorest countries put together, we feel that something is badly wrong with life on earth-that global resources weren’t meant to be distributed like this.
MUJHE PANI KA KUZA CHAHIYE THA
MAGAR MACHLI KO DARYA CHAHIYE THA
OOSAY BHI KAHKUSHAN DE DI HAY TUN NE
JISAY BUS EIK SITARA CHAHIYE THA
KHIZAN SHAYAD PLAT KAR AA GAYI HAY
MUJHE TO PATTA PATTA CHAHIYE THA
ABHI SUKHI PARI HAY DIL KI BASTI
ABHI PANI BARSNA CHAHIYE THA
TAMASHAY KO ZAMANAY KI TALASH THI
ZAMANAY KO TAMASHA CHAHIYE THA
OOSI MANZAR SAY TANG AGAYE HU VE THE
VOHI MANZAR HAMESHAN CHAHYE THA
JAHAN SAY HAM NIKALE JA CHUKE THE
VOHI AALAM DO BARAH CHAHYE THA
When people, in wealthy and poor countries, become active on behalf of the poor, remarkable results are possible.
A FRIEND
A friend is one who is not hard to find when you are penniless.
A friend is one who makes your grief less painful, your adversity more bearable.
A friend is one who joyfully sings with you when you are on the mountaintop, and silently walks beside you through the valley.
A friend is one with whom you are comfortable, to whom you are loyal, through whom you are blessed, and for whom you are grateful.
A friend is one who warms you by his presence, trusts you with his secrets, and remembers you in his prayers.
A friend is one who gives you a spark of assurance when you doubt your ability to fulfill your noblest aspiration, climb your special mountain, or reach your secret goal.
A friend is one who helps you bridge the gaps between loneliness and fellowship, frustration and confidence, despair and hope, setbacks and success.
A friend is one who is available to you, understanding of you, and patient with you. A friend is no less a gift from God than is a talent; no less a treasure than life itself.
A friend is also someone who listens.
Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.

There are many spoken words in our hansoti zuban corrupted from either Persian or Arabic. Some of the words and other titles, their actual meanings are laid down here. These are just my views. Allah knows the best
1) In wedding barat of bridegroom comes with Band Baja. If you remember Rahim Band and Razzak Band of Surat was very popular. People say SARGAS NIKLA hay kisi ki shadi ho rahi hay. To yeh raat ke waqat sargas ka niklna yeh sargas word is corrupted from SHAB GASHT Raat ka chakkar or going around in the night.
2) DIGAS. The Persian word is DAHI GASHT. DAH means village or town. DAHI means of the village. GAON KA CHAKKAR LAGANA. People higher a security man or a RAKHEWAL to look after their KHET so they go around in the night. The village DIGAS may be the BIGRA HUVA NAM HO.
